I tried loading the beta-galactosidase tiff movies provided as part of the Relion-3 tutorial (24 movies plus a single gain.mrc file). I am using cistem-1.0.0-beta. The import dialog suggests that mrc and tiff files can be imported, but only the single gain.mrc file is visible. Should I convert these tiff to mrc, and if so, which converter is recommended (IMOD ?). Any other suggestions and/or workarounds that I can try?
Thanks for this intuitive piece of software especially for those new to the field.

Hi Eugene,
I believe this should work. If you go to Assets->Movies->Import - select add files and select tiff files, do they not appear in the selection box? What error do you see?
The gain.mrc should not be imported at this stage, instead you should untick movies are gain corrected, and select the gain.mrc as the gain file.

Hi Tim
As per your instructions - if I select Add files I get a dialog box with the following: a single gain.mrc file visible and no tiff files. I noticed the following at the bottom of the box: MRC or TIFF files (*.mrc;*.mrcs;*.tif)
Perhaps the *.tif needs to read *.tiff as a file selector (single f to double f)?
Thanks for your help.
Eugene
Hi Eugene,
Yes, this may actually be the (silly) problem. I will look into this. Can you try renaming to .tif and seeing if that fixes it?
Cheers,
Tim
Hi Tim
I will try renaming the tiff files on Tuesday (due to Easter break). I am curious if there is a slight difference between tif and tiff files (images vs movies or bits etc.)?
Cheers
Eugene
Hi Tim
Yes - renaming the tiff files worked (from tiff to tif).

Eugene
Thanks for doing this, I'll add this as an issue to fix
Hi
I was wondering if this issue was now solved? I have 20.000 TIFF movies I'd like to import into cisTEM that are not seen when running the import job, and I wondered whether there was an easier solution than manually renaming all of them.
Hi,
This will be fixed in the next release, but is not fixed in the current release - sorry!
